The first rule when trying to understand the actual agenda in play, whether it's the street or in the UN is "Watch the money."

Haliburton, which Vice President Cheney used to be CEO of, and still pays him an undisclosed amount between $100,000 and 1,000,000" won the contract to put out any fires that might start as a result of the upcoming invasion of Iraq.

In other news, a senior intelligence analyst for the Australian government resigned today because based on his analysis (which presumably takes into account at least some of the information Bush keeps telling us we have to trust him about), war with Iraq is not justified at this time.

In fact, a war is the exact course of action most likely to cause Saddam to do exactly what we're trying to prevent. I believe it's the course of action that is most likely to cause him to lash out recklessly, to use weapons of mass destruction and to possibly play a terrorism card. -- Andrew Wilkie, former senior intelligence analyst for Australia
