I am made from the dust of the stars and the oceans flow in my veins

Yanked from [livejournal.com profile] dglenn"

Scientists find star dust at the bottom of the Pacific. They're thinking it was sent here along with about 300,000 years of increased cosmic radiation 3 million years ago that happened about the same time Africa's climate dried up and it started having a savannah.

I remember working at Fermilab and attending a lecture on cosmic radiation. The presenter put a small detecter into a bowl of water. We watched if flash about once a minute. He remarked, "It's interesting to consider that roughly once perminute, a cosmic ray collides with one of the particles making up your brain." It's been something that informed my theology ever since.
