The amazing thing about auditing...

Hear me out.

So often of late, for example, I feel like I'm living in a Dumas novel. (Or perhaps, one of skzb's Phoenix Guard stories.

"Please send me the documentation," I say.
"What, you want me to send you documentation?" They say.
"Indeed, if you please."
"But I've already told you."
"So you have. And yet..."
"Yes?"
"I must have documentary evidence."
"What is this? Do you claim my word is insufficient? I'll have you know I am a man of honor, Sir!"
"I would never do myself the honor of questioning the plain honesty of your given word, Sir. The fact remains that I am required to document the claims that I make regarding what I see when I perform an audit."
"Well, that is a different matter entirely."
"To return to my point, sir, I must reiterate my request for this famous documentation."
"Shall I send it to you, then?"
"The Horse! I think it has been an hour since I have asked for anything else!"
