Little ado about some

It's been a while since I updated with much, and I've several things I thought would merit mention. Here we go.

• Tim Maroney passed away today. In looking things over, I came across his web page. He and I were never close, and we really only intersected in 1988, when I was lurking in soc.women. My opinion of him at the time was low, and I hadn't given it or him much thought in the intervening time. Reading over his homepage, he seems a very different person now than then -- which should hardly be a surprise. I bid him hail and farewell.
  
  
• Remember Joe Piscopo's sports caster on Weekend Update? Read this in that voice: Politics? Scary! Bush? Codpiece? Bring it on? Frightening! WMDs missing. Bush lied? BEST CASE SCENARIO! Tax cuts? Bogus! Unemployment? HIGH! Worst in 9 years! Invade Liberia? WTF! Republican leaders? Thugs! Republicans making less than 7 digits? SUCKERS!
  
  
• I was traveling for about a week and a half. My cat missed me. I can tell because he puked on my pillow. The computers at work missed me, too. I can tell because...
  
  
• I'm missing Defcon & Black Hat this year. I'm not happy about it. I got a really good raise and bonus, though, and I am happy about that.

I don't know if you knew this, but Tim was the brother of my cohusband, womzilla. I never ran into him in his combative Net persona, but he was a pleasant, if distant, brother-in-law.

i'm sorry for your loss, though i do not know the nature of your relationship, it's always sad when some one passes.

i know my cats missed me if when i get home they yell at me for about an hour then i don't see any of them for 2 days. my cats are bitter. my aunt that had them before me used to leave for three days to a week at a shot, so when she gave them to me, they had to get over their abandonment issues. They have problems just like everyone else.

My cat missed me when I traveled too. He peed, right in front of me, on my backpack. Then the next day on a pillow case.

Tim was very widely known over a long span of time, so no real surprise about royalbananafish.

Computers have many and various ways of puking on your pillow. I tend not to go into very much detail about it here, because often what goes wrong with a computer from my perspective is a company confidential matter. I can mention that the computers had a problem at all because that's often reported in the news.
