I have added the following note to my User Info:

In direct challenge to FNN's assertion of trademark over the phrase, I assert that this is a "fair and balanced" journal.

I contend that this phrase has been in common use amongst journalists prior to FNN's assertion of trade mark, and their attempt to assert ownership of the term is as erroneous as LucasFilm's former claim over the phrase "galactic empire."

I note that failure on FNN's part to sue me will constitute a failure to protect the mark, which can nullify any claim they might otherwise have over it.

I encourage you to join me, and everyone else who is protesting their attempt to intimidate Al Franken and Penguin Group.

It would be more of a direct challenge if you notified Fox's Lawyers. The internet is a vast sea and Fox may never notice your position. One cannot sue unless one has knowledge of an alleged infraction. Good Luck.

I am doing! I was surprised to find your journal. I actually found it from Amq's journal (I poked around, and saw it), and thought 'herm. I only know ONE holzman..'.

It has fuck all to do with Al Franken, but I just thought I'd say 'hi' since we haven't spoken in YEARS. So... um... hi. :)

You are the third old, good friend I've come back into contact with today -- completing the set. (see my next journal entry) This is wonderful!

How have you been?

Pretty good. Switched jobs to a better paying sysadmin position with, sadly, a leash. Drifting back towards fantasy from modern occult (way, way burned out on World of Darkness). Sex life is pretty dull but improving since I dropped the blood pressure meds (the change of jobs made them not as essential to my health). Married life good. Bush presidency bad. Trying to do more cooking. I envy your goose fat.

I know what you mean about being burned out on WoD. I got disgusted with Mage around the time the editors were writing in their official capacity in the rule books about people deserving to be beaten up for wanting to play Nephandi and other such unpleasant people.

I've been a writing fiend expanding ShadowWorld for when work finanlly gets around to giving me enough free time on weekends (it's hectic now) to get my players together, and I find I miss WoD less and less.

You want Cult of Ecstacy Barrabi? We've gocher Priests of Moralis (the God of Lust and Pain) and Priestesses of Inis (the Goddess of "it wasn't necrophilia when I STARTED!) And so on.

Completely apart from work, [livejournal.com profile] jadegirl and I are still together -- 4 years last June.

Okay, let's say I don't want to play a Nephandus, but I really, really, really want to LARP an ItX Comptroller.

Is there something wrong with me?

It has been many, many moons since I played RoleMaster. I recall ShadowWorld, but never really looked at it closely. I was mostly a SpaceMaster guy and ran a game set in DarkSpace (I think that was the name). I don't believe I've looked at anything they've released for either game in close to a decade.

So glad to hear you are in a happy stable relationship. :)

There's a bit of crossover between the two --

ShadowWorld
is Ceril VII, and the Dia Khorvia has a base on the planet. The only stuff they've released in the last decade (aside from Power of Light and Darkness, which came out last week, were released directly by Terry Amthor, the creator. ICE had some bankruptcy problems that only got solved a year or two ago.
