In Yiddish, there is a word: chutzpah. It is defined as the quality which allows one to kill one's parents and then beg the court for mercy on the grounds that one is an orphan. You may recall that California's Kindergarten Governer cut their car tax on his first day in office. Punchline.

That AFA Poll is now running 49.76% opposed/43.19% supporting Gay marriage, with 7.04% supporting only civil unions. In your face, Don Wildmon.

The Second and Ninth circuit courts have both ruled the concept of "illegal combatants" as a category of prisoner outside the jurisdiction of the U.S. judiciary Uncontitutional. I wonder if Bush'll push it to the Supreme Court. I wonder if they'll cede their authority.

Governor Rendell of Pennsylvania is apparently thinking about running against Santorum.

Memo to the Neocons -- I realize that life sometimes throws us morally ambiguous situations and it's occasionally difficult to tell right from wrong, support from opposition. This is means as a pointer on one of those subtle issues:
  • This is what supporting the troops looks like.
  • Antagonizing enemies into increasing their attack, cutting Veteran benefits and soldier's pay is not what supporting the troops looks like.

Hope this helps.

Woohoo. He's been a mostly unobjectionable governor, and he's not Santorum. Sounds good to me.

It occurs to me that if he does become Senator, he'll have been a mayor, Governor, and Senator.

That's a damn good position from which to run for President.
