Chutzpah used to be defined as the quality which permits someone to kill their parents and then beg the court for mercy on the grounds that they're an orphan. That definition was rendered obsolete in its mildness years ago, but Avedon Carol spotted the new topper:

On Tuesday, [United Kingdom Home Secretary David] Blunkett will fight in the Royal Courts of Justice in London for the right to charge victims of miscarriages of justice more than £3000 for every year they spent in jail while wrongly convicted. The logic is that the innocent man shouldn't have been in prison eating free porridge and sleeping for nothing under regulation grey blankets.

[EDIT -- because I didn't think it had enough rancor.] Hopefully, some guy will respond with something like, "The court finds itself challenged to find vocabulary suitable to the enormity of the petititon. The American Association of Immigration Lawyers has filed an amicus curae indicating that they pass their ease by telling jokes about how slimy you are. Not only are we going to rule against you, but I'm going to take my silly wig off and pummell you about the head and shoulders with it. Further, it is the order of the court that you be immediately stripped of office and dragged up and down the Thames by your toes until someone comes along and comes up with something even stupider."

Sounds like Blunkett. :( *sigh*

You know, this weekend when the Socialists won in Spain, I thought hey, maybe we can get rid of Blair and co and get the Socialists in office. Then I remembered. Blair is what's left of Socialists here. New Labour Schabour! Bring back real Labour, please!!! (When the Liberal Democrats are far more Socialist than the actual Socialists, you do start to wonder. :)

Would you believe Blunkett was Minister of Education before he was promoted to the Home Office? *sigh*

I'll repeat what I said in Arthur's LJ: were the Bush administration interested in balancing the Federal budget, this would be a novel approach.

Jaw-droppingly stupid, min you, but novel.

Given the Bush Administrations level of stupidity, I'm sort of surprised they didn't come up with it first!
