Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] vulgarweed for noticing that I haven't posted in a while and asking if everything is OK. Things are mostly OK, read on...

  • My current position at Sony will terminate at the end of the month. The job market is tight. I've had two positions fall through so far, one of them despite the employer's wishes because of an order to outsource. I'm still pursuing several things, but right now it looks like I'll be unemployed for a while. This is a mixed blessing -- I have some money saved and Sony has a sweet severance package, so I'll be able to take some of that time to focus on things that it's hard to do when having my life amd being employed. On the other hand, I was unself-employed for most of 1993, and it was crushingly depressing and took years to climb out of fiscally and emotionally. As a result, there's a fear of that depression again, though I think it will go down differently, thanks to my own increased maturity and [livejournal.com profile] jadegirl's careful attentions.
  • I'm in graduate school, getting a Masters in IT with a specializatio nin Info Security. It's fun, but it's alot of work.
  • Life with [livejournal.com profile] jadegirl is awesome, no matter what my work situation.

hey there! nice to see you again!

"though I think it will go down differently, thanks to my own increased maturity and jadegirl's careful attentions."

Hold on to that idea. Time helps us all grow, change, and move on. Nothing will ever be the same, given your experience and wisdom gained. I understand the frustration of job market, but the fact that you've had 2 offers makes you a hot item that is bound to come up wiht something!

Enjoy the break. The right thing will come along. Besides! Grad school- work- life-- you are pretty busy. :)

To be clear, I've had two interview processes, not offers.

Isn't it amazing how things seem to fall into place sometimes?
