The amazing thing about that speech is that someone alegedly vetted it. I mean...

We kept trying to explain to my dad that when we are young and irresponsible, well, we're young and irresponsible.

You're the only two people in the country who haven't caught on yet that daddy kinda knew that one.

Besides, since we've graduated from college, we're looking around for something to do for the next few years. Kind of like dad.

I'm not sure Karl Rove wanted the image of a somewhat lost and dazed GWB wondering what to do with the next few years, so maybe this President gig would be kinda kewl.

When you grow up as the daughters of George and Laura Bush, you develop a special appreciation for how blessed we are to live in this great country.

Mel Brooks summarized that "special appreciation" in six words: It's good to be the king. I don't think that's what tey wanted to say, though.

Do you get the feeling they're inbreeding? Papa George was competent, if a bit verbally challenged, and old Prescott seems to have been a highly shrewd fascist.

Not inbreeding, simply complacent -- Prescott had to be highly shrewed, and George H.W. had to as well. George W. and the daughters not so much. The third generation of dynasties tend to start screwing up left and right because the world would let them. We see this trend in the Kennedys as well.

Where people kowtow to you because your Daddy could have their asses thrown into a detention center as a terrorist if they did otherwise.

What Moly Ivins said about Papa Bush holds true for his granddaughters: "They were born on third base and thought they'd hit a triple."

George Bush is not good at giving a speech. He just isn't, but the problem is compounded by the fact that his speech writers write as poorly as he speaks. I won't even watch his speeches anymore, just too painful.

From what you've written, sounds like the girls used his speech writers. They'd probably have been better off coming up with one of their own.

Maybe the girls are his speech writers. That would explain a few things...

My jaw dropped on the "Sex and the City' remark, and just stayed down for the rest of their presentation. I just couldn't believe it...they pretty much embodied and articulated everything that I think is wrong with the Bush presidency. How utterly embarassing.

Yes, most college graduates got busy looking for a job long before they graduated, and came face-to-face with the mess that GWB has made of the job market.
